This month, I often found myself dabbling between work and non-work related activities. Frequently struggling to be more intentional with my time. I hopped on to some self-help tips and have been gradually putting them into practice :)
📢Good News & Announcement: The article that I'm working on presently will be out sometime soon. It is a story close to my heart and something magical that happened in the past year! Watch out👀
As promised, here are some of my best reads❤ so far:
5 Metaskills That Will Make You Superhuman:
I've read and re-read it all over again! Every time I read it, I discover new insights. Soundarya has comprehensively covered the best five 21st century skills. She describes these skills as different arts we need to master. The art of reading right is my favorite. But the other four cannot be neglected. My future superhuman self advises me to pick up these skills one at a time! :)
'Show your Work' book summary by Ali Abdaal
I've mentioned this book summary in my previous articles and LinkedIn posts a couple of times for a reason! It gave me a completely new lens about sharing stuff online. It has inspired me to share my thoughts and experiences through my words. It is the reason why you are reading this right now!
So please read it! Period.
Learning to Code is Easy: Here’s How to Teach Yourself
I remember reading this article a year ago while returning from the hospital. It was the point where I almost started healing from Covid-19.
Reading through this article is probably why I'm a Data Scientist today! Like every other non-CSE background student, I too was programmophobic. In fact, I feared technology. It was outside of the bubble of my comfort zone.
Reading this article completely changed the way I look at learning to code, which turned out to be a career changer for me! :)
✍🏻Quote of the Day!
"At the highest point of learning, what we need are not people who know everything; what we need are open-minded people who question everything, including some assumptions that they held dear."
🎀Bonus Items:
Remember I mentioned the self-help tips at the start? I've been listening to Nir Eyal's podcast with Lewis Howes on the topic of Productivity. Nir has written two NYT best-selling books- Hooked and Indistractable. His books are backed with great research around psychology and human behaviour. Find out more by listening to this🎧podcast
📌One of my favorite Ted Talks
Can you imagine the lesser you sleep, the shorter is your life span? Sleep scientist Matthew Walker has some fascinating research revolving around sleep. Right from your testosterone levels to your immunity, It's crazy how much sleep impacts us. He argues that we have been moving towards a sleep-deprived world, where getting quality sleep of 7-9 hours is a superpower. Maybe time for another meta-skill, The art of sleeping right? 🤨
👀Some glimpse from my life
I bought Kindle at the start of this month! One of those perfectly synchronised moments, when your salary and the amazon sale all arrive at the same time. Or Maybe a Business tactic?
I craved buying this device for the last two years. I don't know what prevented me from buying it earlier. But my experience has been appreciable so far!
I started with 'Shoe Dog- a memoir by the creator of Nike.' I have finished 25% of the book and it has been an engrossing read! The founder's journey so far has put a long-lasting impression on me.
🧠Closing Thoughts
Phil Knight- the founder of Nike, travelled the world when he was 24. Back then, it was the 1960s, just a few years after the second world war. The irony is even in the 2020s, We dread stepping out of our homes fearing the virus. Wondering if the times we live in are better than the times our great-grandfathers lived?
